Carly Fiorina Announces Grassroots Leadership Team and Launches New Online Coalitions Connection Portal

Sacramento, CA – As grassroots support continues to build behind her campaign, U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today announced that Gayle Pacheco, Chuck McDougald and Evie Coss will lead her grassroots leadership team. In addition, she announced the formation of 17 coalitions supporting her candidacy, led by Californians from across the state representing the ethnic, professional, generational and religious diversity of this state.

“Regardless of occupation, geography and demographics, the people of California are worried about two things: jobs and out-of-control government spending. These are issues our representatives in Washington, including Barbara Boxer, are not addressing – and Californians are rightfully ready for a change,” said Fiorina. “I am honored to have earned the support of such dedicated Californians who want to bring fiscal responsibility and real leadership back to the U.S. Senate, and I look forward to working with my grassroots leadership team to ensure the voices of all California’s diverse communities are heard and well-represented, both during my campaign and while serving as their advocate in the U.S. Senate.”

Pacheco, of Walnut, is currently president and owner of Western Hardware Company, an industrial hardware manufacturer and distributor. In addition to serving on the Walnut Valley Unified School District Personnel Commission, Pacheco also sits on the State Rehabilitation Council and is vice chair of the Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. Pacheco was previously an elected member of the Mt. San Antonio College Board of Trustees and has served as an appointee to the California Workforce Investment Board.

McDougald, of South San Francisco, is a Vietnam War veteran and served two combat tours and achieved the rank of captain during his five and a half years in the Army, from 1964 to 1969. Following his military service, McDougald lived in Asia for 14 years, during which time he earned a master’s degree in management and a doctorate in business administration. Since then, he has volunteered for several organizations and campaigns, including Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and as chair of John McCain’s Western Region Veterans Coalition in 2007. He previously served as chair of Veterans for Carly.

Coss, of Newport Coast, is a former senior-level executive with experience in both medium and large aerospace and automotive companies. Her extensive record includes achievements and real-world experience in risk management, leadership, customer care and nonprofit service. Coss has also served on many different boards and commissions in Orange County. After serving as a risk-management consultant for seven companies, Coss started a woman-based corporation in Orange County.

This new Web site, which was also launched today, will help supporters across the state connect with Carly’s campaign, provide voters with more information about Fiorina and her views on key issues, and serve as an online portal to social networking sites that will help build an even broader base of support for Carly’s U.S. Senate bid. In addition to launching this site, Carly will hold the first of regular conference calls with these coalition chairs and supporters.

Since announcing her candidacy for U.S. Senate in November, Fiorina has traveled up and down the state to develop a robust and diverse network of grassroots support, campaigning in cities such as San Diego, Modesto, Salinas and San Luis Obispo. In the coming months, Fiorina will continue to travel the state talking to Californians about the challenges facing their families and communities, as well as effective and efficient strategies to build a better future for our state and our nation.
