Report from the Field
What an amazing week! We capped off our 5-city, three day tour with a stop at Goal Line Productions in Pleasanton, California. Carly addressed a group of business leaders from the Tri-Valley Business Council who were anxious to hear her thoughts on innovation, entrepreneurship and getting our economy moving. The reception she received was incredible. It's pretty obvious that the business community is excited about sending Carly to the Senate to bring a new way of thinking and approach to getting things done in Washington. Carly speaks their language and they know she'll be their voice in the Senate!
At each stop along the tour this week - from Orange County to the Central Valley, San Diego to San Francisco Bay Area - every place we visited and everyone we spoke with said the same thing: "It's time for real leadership in Washington, DC. We want a Senator who will work hard for us and Carly's our choice for California!"
It's been a great week, thanks to all the wonderful Californians we've met along the way. We can't wait to see where the campaign trail takes us next! Stay tuned...
November 5, 2009: Fresno
Report from the Field
Today was another great day on the campaign trail! We started off at Wawona Frozen Foods in Fresno for another town hall meeting. Wawona is amazing- they process millions of pounds of fruit per year and employ hundreds of workers but started off as a small family farm. They were really gracious hosts and we enjoyed being there! The crowd was very enthusiastic and interested in hearing Carly's thoughts on the recent water agreement passed by the state Legislature, which will go before the voters for their approval.
After a terrific morning meeting with people in Fresno, we headed to Sacramento to the North State Building Industry Association's annual Sacramento Housing Forecast. We all know it's been a rough couple of years for California builders, but the crowd really responded when Carly spoke about he fundamental role less regulation, a reduced tax burden and access to capital will play in bringing recovery to the housing sector and the economy overall.
It's easy to be cynical about politicians and our government but Carly's plan to go to work for the people of California is truly inspiring. As she speaks to all kinds of Californians it's clear that they are ready for change. Barbara Boxer's nearly 18 years of harsh partisanship and inability to get anything done for her constituents just isn't good enough.
Tune in tomorrow - we wrap up the tour with a town-hall style meeting in Pleasanton in the Bay Area.

Today was a great day to kick off our campaign! We started early and headed to Earth Friendly Products, a family-owned business in Garden Grove, California. They are a great American story - the CEO started by mixing chemicals in his garage and expanded to become the #1 selling eco-friendly cleaning products company in the country.
The room was filled with Carly supporters who cheered like crazy when she announced that she is running against Barbara Boxer. They thought it was fantastic to hear about Carly's vision for the future of our country and how she plans to represent us all in Washington, DC. Her campaign will be based on restoring fiscal accountability in Washington and helping our economy recover. Sounded good to this crowd!
Californians enjoyed hearing about Carly's past. Many had no idea that she was a self-made woman who worked her way through undergrad and grad school- inspiring to say the least! Only in America can you work your way from Secretary to CEO through hard work and dedication. After this morning, the California voters have no doubt that she'll apply that exact same work ethic in Washington for each of them.
